Shafter Museum plans expansion and fundraising drive
The Kern County Shafter Museum outlines a five year plan to renovate outer facilities and landscaping, add an 80 by 140 hanger, and refurbish the yard near the Minter Field site. Chairman John Bogacki says the goal is to honor veterans and aviation history while raising funds through donations and exhibits. A financial campaign and grant search are underway, with artifacts from WWII veterans urged as donations. The plan is accessible at the Shafter Library.

Working women expand their Social Security protection
Women are increasingly earning their own Social Security benefits and expanding coverage for families. Credits accumulate over years, with full insured status reached after ten years, while disability requires recent work. If benefits as spouse and worker apply, the higher benefit is paid, and staying informed is key. Call 1-800-772-1213 for the booklet What Every Woman Should Know.
