Board opposes subsidy plan misallocating school meal aid
The State Board of Education faced criticism from San Jose and Campbell districts over a proposed plan to expand reduced cost meals to needy children. Critics warn it could violate federal rules and reduce cafeteria participation, threatening program viability. The board asked for local guidance criteria and urged Congress to restore funds for national lunch and milk programs.
