Informative Week Planned by Local Seventh day Adventist Church

Pastor M E Heinrich invites the community to a week of informative talks cooking classes and workshops from March 16 to 20 at the Bakersfield church. Dorothea Van Gundy Jones will teach healthy cooking and diets. The Dorcas Society funds a welfare church work session March 19 at 420 Wilson Road with 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. rides available.

Richland District Approves Bus Purchase and Budget Adjustments

The Richland Board approved Crown Trucks low bid to sell a bus for 27410.25 with tax and may trade in an old bus for 200. Gillig Bros bid 28245 for another bus. Funds may come from other budgeted sources as meals for needy rose to 606.10 in February. The district forecasts enrollment rise from 1834 to 1894 next year and plans about six new teachers.

Four Spring Sports Schedule at Shafter High

Shafter High highlights a wet week with a swimming win over Wasco and a season debut for the track team. Upcoming events include Wasco Invitational Track Meet Saturday and Wasco Tigers visiting Shafter baseball Friday at 3 30 p m plus a Garces game Saturday at 10 00 a m and an Arvin swim meet Friday at 4 00 p m.

Annual Charity Game Between Generals and Faculty

The annual basketball game between the Generals and the Faculty is set for Friday at 8 p.m. in the high school boys gymnasium. Admission is 1 for adults and 50 cents for students with proceeds benefiting the Key Club charity work.

Richland Reading Program to be All New in 1969

Richland schools will start a completely new reading program in September. Parents and interested residents may preview materials and learn details on Thursday March 20 at 10 a.m. in the District Office. Yellow Form Promises Cash for Property Owners

County Assessor Herb Roberts stressed that the yellow form is not a duplicate of the white form. It is a $70 claim for homeowners who owned their property as of March 1, 1968 and returnable by April 15. The white form covers the $750 exemption for the 1969-70 year. Farmers on ranches should visit the office to file if they did not receive forms.

Improvement Council Plans Tree Planting Program

Bill Cowan Trains With NY Yankees in Spring Camp

Bill Cowan son in law of Mr and Mrs Allen Anderson of Shafter is in spring training with the New York Yankees at Fort Lauderdale Florida. Cowan won a game recently with a bases loaded single. He was unsuccessful in three tries against Don Drysdale of the Dodgers who allowed only four hits in Monday game.
