Ways to avoid license suspension per California reporting rules
The Shafter Police Department warns drivers of a little known rule under Vehicle Code sections 16000 and 16004. Drivers involved in accidents causing property damage over 500 dollars or injuries must report the accident within 10 days using forms from DMV or police. The report must be completed by the individual, not the insurer or police. Failure leads to suspension of driving privileges.
