Shafter district funds sewage plant upgrade with bond noted
A Shafter district press for water and sewer improvements led to a $250,000 bond issue to expand the disposal plant. The enlarged plant serves 12,000 to 15,000 people, with plans to replace old pipes and install 18 new fire hydrants. The board, wary of another bond, keeps tax rates high to cover interest.
