Representatives from Shafter attended Kern County Council American Legion meeting at Wasco Hall. Clane was elected district commander to replace D. Faulken. Bill Bishop became chaplain. Merna Bestwick and Yvonne Wipf chaired district activities. Six auxiliary units from Wasco, Shafter, Fellows, East Bakersfield, Bakersfield and Delano were represented. Next meeting in Bakersfield with Uruguay film show planned.

Couples Attend Medical Cadet Demonstration at Monterey Bay
Mr and Mrs Claremore Fenderson Jr and Mr and Mrs Leon Pitts of Shafter attended a medical cadet corps demonstration at Monterey Bay Academy last weekend. The Pitts traveled to Watsonville Friday and stayed through Sunday while the Fendersons visited La Sierra College in Arlington and returned home Saturday night. They then visited Mrs Fendersons sister Noreen Horst at the academy Sunday morning.
