Richland Eyes Building Plan For Primary Campus

The Richland board tentatively approves a site utilization plan for six buildings on the primary campus including a cafetorium to reduce pupil transport. Estimated cost from School Architect Ernie McCoy is 514000 for the main building program with total expenses around 570000. The plan covers 45123 square feet of classroom space and awaits final state approval.

Army Inducts Harley Martin From Shafter

Harley Martin aged 19, son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Seay of Shafter, was inducted into the Army on Feb 25 and is stationed at Camp Roberts. A UC Berkeley freshman, he is a Shafter High School alumnus and former Generals stellar guard. He is married to Norma Nix, living with her parents on Euclid Street.

CTA Field Conference Set for Richland School

The central California Teachers Association will hold a field conference next Friday night at Richland School in Shafter. Mrs. Arthur B. Shafter District Expands Pipe Lines With Major Installations

Superintendent Jack Harris outlined pipe laying projects for the Shafter Public Utility District with material costs around 25000 dollars. Projects include two eight inch sewer and water lines 1000 feet long in Potter tract, a 1260 foot 10 inch water line on Redwood street, and a 2640 foot trunk line in Kirschenmann Park area with Adolf Kirschenmann sharing in costs and sewer line work. Additional work covers 110 feet of sewer and 260 feet of water line at Elm street crossing.

Interior Chief Approves SWID Water Contract

Secretary of Interior Douglas McKay announced final approval of the Shafter-Wasco Irrigation District water service contract. The SWID directors must now submit the form to the California districts securities to proceed to a district vote.
