Walkabout enrichment class tours Shafter sites in town
Richland Junior High seventh and eighth graders led by Janeen Smith and Julia Hernandez visited Shafter landmarks on March 1 as part of a history themed Walkabout enrichment. Guides Pat Bryant and Pete Goertzen accompanied the 36 students visiting the Shafter Depot and Museum, Green Hotel, Ice House, and State Theater. The program, tied to Shafter history and progress, aims to compile an encyclopedia style book, create art and time lines, and showcase work at the History Day Festival at the County Fairgrounds.
