Cow Pie Contest Planned for Shafter May Festival
The Shafter May Festival will feature several contests including a men's cooking event egg tossing and a three legged race. The Cow Pie Contest awards 1000 dollars to the holder of the winning square as a cow walks inside a 32 by 32 yard area. If multiple squares win the prize is shared. The idea originated with Chamber of Commerce member Jim Freyberger after he saw a similar contest at Tejon Ranch.
