He holds a BA from Pasadena College and an MS from Colorado State University. Also performing will be The Kotones trio Jeannette Keredy Connie Jamogee Evelyn Paxton and John Smee, with Smee at the piano.
The Junior Women Traffic Safety group launched a campaign in Mer chem focusing on traffic safety. Fifteen posters were selected for display and teachers discussed the Primary Safety program. Club members including Mrs. Morton Brown and others contributed poster art. A traffic safety film is planned for Friday at Shafter High School.
Members of American Legion Post 213 and American Legion Auxiliary plan the annual Past Commander and Past Presidents dinner.
Jack Janzen, chairman of the Blood Bank at Veteran's Memorial, reports 50 pints donated last Wednesday from 3 to 7. Thirty one pints went to individuals, the rest credited to the fund. Thanks extended to volunteers Mrs Oxford, Mrs Jewell Lytle, Erma McCoy, Mrs Isabelle Ward, Mrs Vonnie Wipf, and Monan Mogan.
Rio Bravo 4 H group of 26 youths and six adults hears advisor N R Boggs report on a sponsor's dinner held in Bakersfield last Saturday. Carol Enns and Barbara Boggs present dinner reports and book pickups prepare for a Fresno trip on March 24 with a 7 30 a m departure and packed lunches. Parents volunteer to drive. A March 20 skating party is planned at Skateland rink.
Shafter High School athletes hosted a three way track meet producing two second place finishes and a third. Wasco and Taft led overall with Wasco earning two first places as their C team fell to the B and A divisions. Notable events include Labartae 16.1 in the 120 high hurdles and Pierce 10.3 in the 100 yard dash.
Richland School students stage a patriotic pageant directed by Sylvia Ganz with narrators Jan Dargatz and Travis Self as about 225 people attend the Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture annual installation dinner. John Turner, director of the U S Cotton Field Station, is named 1962 Man of the Year for community contributions.

J Marshall Phillips son of J E Phillips director of farming for the Coberly West Co and Mrs J E Phillips was named Soldier of the Month for February at Fort Ord California He worked in the Shafter office before enlisting in January 1961 He serves as personnel record clerk at Fort Ord Headquarters 12th Evacuation He married Sandra Newholes last August in Carmel and they reside at 540 Willi Street Seaside California
