Buttonwillow leader Giannini jailed four years in fatal crash
Kern County Superior Court sentenced Dante Giannini, 66, of Buttonwillow to four years for vehicular manslaughter and related DUI felonies in the March crash that killed Joseph Yelton and injured his wife Ruth near McFarland. A jury convicted him in January. a blood test dispute was resolved with sheriff’s reading upheld by state authorities. Giannini to await appeal on bond rulings.

Man Drowns In Canal Near Buttonwillow
The body of Thomas Virgil Stracener, 39, was recovered by Kern County sheriff search teams last week from the East Side Canal near Buttonwillow, about a mile north of Snow Road. He had been last seen walking toward his rural Buttonwillow home on Feb. 24. His pickup was found 0.75 miles away. Authorities ruled the death accidental.
