Bottlenecks in harvest gear and sugar rationing noted

J R Bright cites chain shortages as the main bottleneck in harvesting machinery supply for this year's crops. WFA and War Production Board officials say emphasis remains on making combines and other equipment available, while war demands cut chain and engine supplies. Tractor production tops 156000 units in the year ending July 1, with seed shipments highlighting war-time shipping logic. Local boards may authorize a full 20 pound per person sugar allotment for canning early crops, as OPA regionals designate areas.
