Camp Cotton Chopping Job Will Get Ax
Camp vf Shafter and Bakersfield expand cotton acreage this year and will not require labor for thinning or chopping. Tests show more plants spaced out by chopping do not reduce yield, so Camp and his two sons plan to rely on machines yet forego them. Most growers rely on human crews, but Camp aims for top yields with minimal labor. A comparison is drawn to thinning sugar beets as a similar balance between plant density and tonnage. MR AND MRS CHARLES HITCHCOCK and J W Frizzell spent Sunday fishing in the mountains. their granddaughter remained with Mrs Frizzell.
