California veterans home plan stalled in state legislature
The 400 bed veterans retirement home project in Lancaster faces funding delays from the Legislature despite federal 65 percent and state 35 percent cost shares. Assemblyman George Runner seeks release of funds as Lancaster donates a 20 acre site and about $10 million has been spent on infrastructure while a waiting list grows. The plan aims to serve aging veterans with no family support, with CalVet eager to proceed.
