Inmates Transfer After Shafter Uprising Brawl
After a Sunday melee at the Shafter Return to Custody facility, 77 inmates are moved. Instigators Donald Miles and Tracy Johnson face potential extended sentences. Kern County Superior Court Judge Len M McGillivray is set to sentence Offord Rollins IV to life in prison for the August 2 1991 fatal shooting of Maria Madera Rodriguez 17 of Shafter near Lost Hills. A retrial motion was denied and supporters alleged racial bias in Kern County during the proceeding.
