Mrs. Harry Davis and her son Bob, visiting from Fresno, are staying this week in the home of Mrs. Davis’ mother, Mrs. Ralph Sanderson.
The Shafter county fire department battled multiple grass and grain fires this week. Crews from Shafter Butler Willows Wasco McFarland and Baskerfield fought a grain fire near Kimberline Road and Highway 99 where a Shafter truck burned. About 30 to 35 acres of grain were destroyed. A separate truck fire 112 miles south of Shafter on Santa Fe Way involved a Bakersfield owned Ford flat rack driven by Jess Wedel. Damages were about 1590 to the truck and 30 to sacks. cause suspected cigarette.
The City of Shafter announces a hearing on July 10 1945 at 7 00 PM at City Hall to consider annexing Lot 3 Section 15 Township 28 South Range 25 East M D B and M Kern County California Pursuant to Ordinance No 50 the council intends to proceed with annexation of uninhabited territory after public notice and statutory steps.
