Kern County Backs Prop 7 With Big Yes Vote

Kern County voters favored Proposition 7 by more than 60 percent in the primary, led by Glen A. Moody chair of the Kern Committee for Yes on 7 and president of the Water Association of Kern County. The measure would let the state issue 600 million in bonds for the State Water Project, Cal-Vet loans, school construction, and junior colleges and beaches and parks, with up to 7 percent interest to attract buyers. Moody called Prop 7 a tribute to Californians’ water development and growth, despite criticism from environmentalists, and noted statewide support and a higher local affirmation than the 53 percent state average.
