North Kern Christian School graduation and awards night
North Kern Christian School held its Graduation and Awards Night on Friday June 4. Eighth graders John Harder and Kathy Oglesby graduated. thirteen diplomas were issued with honors for all four quarters. Special speakers were John Harder and his father Pastor Henry Harder. The band and Girls Chorus performed. refreshments followed.

May Kern County construction climbs amid strong permits rise
May construction in Kern County reached 29.6 million dollars, over last year and near the 1979 May peak. For January–May, permits totaled 137.6 million, about 30 percent higher than 1981’s first five months, with Bakersfield contributing 11.16 million in May and Ridgecrest showing a strong year over year rise.
