Shafter Utilities Set To Rise On City Council Action
Shafter residents will see an average utility rate increase of 3.30 dollars after the City Council action at Monday's meeting. The final rise is 0.68 dollars below the proposed 4.08 dollar average. City Administrator Bill Shelon said increases are not tied to Proposition 13 and do not cover funds lost to it. Current monthly charges are refuse 2.00, sewer 2.00, and water 4.00, with proposed rises to 2.24, 3.40, and 6.44 respectively, far from the approved figures.
