Firefighters Halt Major Blaze With Ventilation and Hose Line
Winter 0 fire response details a water supply from a hydrant and a large volume stream from Engine 32 to suppress heat. Crews advanced hose lines through the front door to attack interior flames concentrated in the kitchen and dining area. Roof access allowed a trench cut for ventilation stopping fire spread through the attic. Salvage operations began in an adjoining clothing store, with bakery video store and real estate office sustaining only smoke damage. Firefighters overcame lack of built in protection and low hydrant pressure to save most of the building.
