Sun-Dried Meal From Cull Potatoes Trialed In Kern County

The plant slices and dries up to 100 tons daily, then grinds to a meal claimed to match or exceed corn value for cattle feed. Nearby tests show beef cattle gain faster on potato meal, with current price around $20 per ton. Brown aims to prove commercial viability and create a new local industry using waste spud output.
