Mrs. Rollin Dargatz departed Shafter East on Wednesday to reunite with Lt. Rollin Dargatz in Tampa Texas where he serves as a flier with the Hebels Mr. and Mrs Bert Hebel also left Shafter this week for a two week trip planned in the northern part of Texas
Rosedale California Mennonite Brethren Church led by Pastor H D Wiebe holds Sunday School at 9 45 a m for everybody and morning preaching at 11 a m with the sermon Faith. Evening preaching at 7 15 p m and midweek prayer on Wednesday at 8 00 p m. Young people's meeting Friday at 8 00 p m. The message emphasizes trust in God and tenderness as revealed in scripture.

Mrs. Wallace Regester and her three children from Port Chicago arrived in Shafter to stay with her parents as their house suffered severe damage from the Port Chicago explosion. Regester, a depot agent, has worked nights and aided salvage in town since the disaster. A soldier on furlough compared the damage to bombings abroad.
Mr and Mrs James L Bryant announce the birth of a girl named Ruby Mae born July 22 at the Shafter Maternity Home weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces. This Sunday July 30 the Christian Science Church of Shafter and Wasco will host at the USO Hall.
Mr and Mrs Albert Phillips of Taft visited Shafter last week and stayed several days as guests of Mr and Mrs J W Lassiter.

He describes daylong dancing and singing with drums and shell noises, and notes spectators in grass and feather costumes while women wear grass bunches and paint. He enjoys letters from home and serves a two year tour.
