Summer school praised after Richland District program
Richland School District director Austin Hunter praised a summer program as a success at a board meeting. The 11 planned teachers were insufficient for 600 plus pre enrolled students, so 16 regular teachers 2 remedial teachers and an aide were added along with 17 high school aides. Electives numbered 57 periods from cooking to ceramics. Attendance reached 550 to 575 with high school students aiding. The aim was attitude change rather than drill and the year recorded its highest attendance. The publication budget varied from the tentative plan at 2 341 993 dollars.
