Shafter Considers Asbestos Removal and Downtown Costs
The city approves a contractor bid up to 12,722 for asbestos removal and anticipates completion within three months. Council delays a decision on a 5.2 percent Warner Cable franchise fee deferment and notes higher downtown Fountain labor costs raising the project to about 17,200 dollars. Contingency funds and a late bid with bond issues factor into the revised estimate near 78,000 dollars.
