Katherina Hein 100 Memorial Services Held
Memorial services for Katherina Hein age 100 will be at 11 a.m. in Agee Funeral Chapel Wednesday officiated by Rev. Dale Warkentin of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Fresno. Interment at Shafter Memorial Park. Born in Bessaraba Romania she came to the United States in 1902 and to Shafter in 1920. Survivors include Frieda Kallman of Fresno Esther Edwards of Ventura Lilly Muir of Hayward and 13 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Delia Maxine Smith 50 died July 12 in Bakersfield. Graveside services led by Rev. John Davis were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Shafter Memorial Park. Born December 28, 1994 in Boliver Missouri she moved to Shafter in 1981 and worked eight years as a beautician. Survived by two sons Charles Latham of Colorado Weston Taylor of Washington and Michelle Taylor of Bakersfield plus three sisters Della Thalheim Goldie Stewart Anna Mae Bell and three grandchildren.

Woman to head Kern Board of Trade in 1985
Patsy R. Darneal named president of the Kern County Board of Trade after the county economic development board’s annual reorganization. The 82 year old board marks its first time with women in top offices. Installations occurred at the Red Lion Inn in Bakersfield with Board of Supervisors members and local industry reps in attendance. Foster, outgoing president, remains on the board to represent the Fifth District.
