At Sam Lynn Park on July 7 Shafter Night drew few attendees from the 7,500 strong town. The free baseball event aimed to show Shafter’s town spirit, but most residents stayed away, suggesting other Thursday evenings may draw more crowds.
At the awards presentation Bill Pineda, coach of Shafter Sports Center, thanked parents for their support of the Babe Ruth program, stating the effort would not succeed without them. Teams received awards for most improved and most valuable players.
