Trustees Move To Close Richland Pool August 1
Richland School District Board voted Monday night to close the district pool as of August 1 to meet conditions for possible city aid. A later plan may close the pool for the full school year. The board also heard recommendations from the Ogles to reorganize schools under a single principal with three vice principals and to cut or modify several administrative and support positions. HUD denial of a waiver for block grant funding was noted. Test results for reading and math showed varied achievement by grade, prompting calls to focus on early grades. Project Challenge evaluations suggested narrowing the program while improving parent communication and expanding participation.
