Government Sets 1942 Bean Planting Goals and Prices

Death takes mother of Twenty-five years of service noted
Master Sergeant Everett M. Tilton of Minterfield died of a heart attack yesterday at the station hospital after twenty five years of service with a high efficiency rating. He joined June 17, 1917 and served overseas with the 49th Infantry before continuing in the United States Army. Surviving is his wife Mrs Grace A Tilton of Shafter.

Services Held For Two Shultz Children
Funerals for Sandra June Shultz five months and Jean Shultz three months were held in Shafter this week. Sandra’s service at Janzén chapel with Rev William Jackson officiating and Jean’s at Mennonite Brethren church preceded interment in Shafter cemetery. Surviving are their parents and paternal grandfather John P. Shultz of Shafter among other relatives. The William Shultz baby died Saturday morning and Johnny Shultz infant died Monday evening.

Elliott Says Fire Truck To Be Released
Congressman Alfred J Elliott says the city fire truck will be released immediately after February 2 following an OPM hold. The truck, built by P E Van Pelt of Oakdale on a GMC basis and sold by Harvey Gaede, will cost 6451 dollars and be paid over five years after city tax rate was raised to fund the purchase.
