Ex-Shafter officer arraigned in sex assault case
Raymond Curt Swope, 36, a former Shafter Police sergeant, was arraigned in North Kem Municipal Court on January 14 for allegedly sexually assaulting a 21 year old Bakersfield woman at a New Year’s Eve party. Swope posted $10,000 bail and faces felony charges of sexual battery and assault to commit sodomy.

Wyman Objects to Side Grading and EIR Rules
Wyman criticized side grading of land near roads and called the EIR filing requirement ridiculous. The city expects a new well to pump about 1500 gallons per minute when finished in March. Last year a pipeline connected the water system with the Minter Field Airport District, which previously lacked potable water.
