Local group aids families facing Alzheimer's in Kern County
The Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County offers adult day services crisis counseling educational seminars and support groups to residents. Ariana Absher marketing director spoke at the Shafter Collaborative about reaching out to outlying areas and helping caregivers with respite services at Wasco Veterans Hall on Poplar Avenue. The disease mainly affects older adults though younger cases exist and diagnosis relies on memory tests with autopsy as definitive. For information call 393-8871.
