State corrections officer killed in Chino attack
A 16 year corrections veteran Manuel A Gonzalez Jr was killed in a Chino reception center attack. Inmate Jon Christopher Blaylock 35 of Los Angeles attacked him from behind. Blaylock held at reception center seven months, with mental health issues and prior sentences including 75 years to life for attempted murder of a peace officer. California officials flag safety risks for officers in reception centers and call for faster distribution of stab proof vests. Governor Schwarzenegger and CDCO officials offer condolences, noting Gonzalez survived by a wife and five children and was the first officer killed in the line of duty since 1985.
