Gladiators youth football builds eight year program rise
Shafter volunteers organize the Gladiators youth football for ages eight to fourteen, growing to about 110 to 120 players per season with four weekly summer practices and Saturday games. The group raises funds through donations, sponsorships, and event profits, with a five thousand dollar annual entry fee for the Golden Empire league. They run home games with parent support, fundraisers, and equipment purchases, and have celebrated back to back championships in 2005 and 2006.
