About 45 Ranchers Cotton Oil workers are recalled to start maintenance at the Lerdo and Highway 98 plant east of Shafter. No processing date is set as contract negotiations remain at impasse since a 1985 agreement expired. Union leader notes potential pay cuts and changed schedules under last offer. Plants in Fresno and Shafter had shut down for economic reasons on December 15. Some workers have been idle 2 to 12 months.
