USDA raises state help for school lunch and breakfast programs

Reverend Monsignor Roger M. Mahony, rector of St. John's Cathedral, is appointed by Pope Paul VI as Titular Bishop of Tamascani and Auxiliary Bishop to Bishop Hugh A. Donohoe of Fresno. Kern Mutual Water Company voters approve joining the Buttonwillow County Water District forming the Kern Mutual Division while retaining its identity. Donny Edmond Douglas 27 formerly of Buttonwillow was found murdered in Lavaca Arkansas. His wife Sherry Lynn 23 was tied and raped after his death while Lanny Venable 29 was arrested for first degree murder and rape. Funeral services were held for Douglas on December 24 with survivors listed.
