Shafter High dominates Corcoran 46 to 18 on Thursday, led by eight pins that signal a potential power-house season for coach Darrell Fletcher. Generals appear poised to make a strong impact in the wrestling circles.
Shafter High junior varsity wrestling won their first South Sequoia League match of the year 49-16 over Corcoran last Thursday night. Craig Bassett pinned Larry Cotter in 1 06, Elrich pinned Burnias in 1 55, and Jones pinned Martinez in 3 11. The Colonels travel to McFarland at 6 p.m. Thursday for another SSL contest.
Shafter High frosh soph coach George Larson notes a 60 30 defeat by Arvin as South Sequoia League play nears with Taft looming. Arvin led 12 to 12 at times with John Aaron scoring 12 and Melvin Sullivan eight for Shafter.

New Starlight of Kern plans two musicals in Bakersfield College Outdoor Theatre for 1976. South Pacific opens June 11 followed by High Button Shoes starting July 16. Auditions set April 1 2 and 3 with staff including Henry Hornege George Carson and Cathleen Correa. Proceeds aid American Lung Association Red Cross and BC.
