Generals sweep Central Wrestling Tournament title
Shafter High School wrestlers dominated the Central Tournament at Central High, placing seven Generals in top spots. Scott Bender and Julio Lopez won first place in 105 and 129 pound classes, while Roger Giovanetti third at 156 and Henry Affentranger third at 122. Phillip Rodriguez and Dennis Martin also earned podium finishes as Shafter edged Bullard and Turlock in a tight team race.

Cub Scout Bake-off and Scout Events Schedule
Fathers and sons of Cub Pack 953 will compete in the Annual Bake-off at the Richland Primary Cafetorium on January 23 at 7 30 p.m. Cakes will be auctioned with prizes for top earners and ribbons for all participants. A Father and Son Bake-Off sale occurs January 28 at Budget Market on State Street starting 9 00 a.m. A committee meeting January 11 at Gary Bailey’s will discuss a scrap metal drive. Recognition Dinner for outstanding leaders is January 13 at Bakersfield Civic Auditorium at 6 45 p.m. Reservations through Sandy Pankey. $7 per person.
