Public notice lists dog vaccination clinics in January at Fire House Buttonwillow 1 30 PM to 5 PM and Fire Station Shafter 9 AM to 4 PM. Vaccination and tagging are compulsory for all dogs over six months and must be repeated yearly. Costs are 150 for males and neutered males, 200 for females. Over 6500 dogs were vaccinated in 1945.
Mrs E V Pitts formerly of Shafter returns to her Lincoln Arkansas home after visiting and staying with her mother. She underwent an operation in the hospital and remained ill for several days. Accompanying her were her son and daughter in law Sam Knadel and wife, daughters Mrs de Payne and Mrs Elsie Houck, and sister Mrs Emily Holt.
A new arrangement lets Kern County builders obtain sanitation permits by mail from the Kern County Department at 2510 M Avenue, with applications available at fire stations. Health Department will administer and inspect as before. The program, effective January 1, 1946, allows building and sanitation permits to be issued at the same office.

Mr and Mrs Les Hobson visited Santa Monica on New Years Day with Mrs Hobsons daughter and her husband Mr and Mrs Ralph Lotke enjoying a family gathering during the holiday period.
Kern County growers apply 500 to 1000 pounds of sulphur per acre this winter per M A Lindsay of the Agricultural Extension Service. Caution is issued on use, as overapplication can prevent potato sprouting and hinder germination of crops when soils become too acidic. Some fields are so acid that costly liming will be required to make them arable again.
The 98 year old Margarita Rameris of Shafter died December 30 at Kerch General Hospital Bakersfield. Services conducted by Reveaged Ellias Campos at Janzen's Funeral Home chapel were at 10 30 yesterday morning. Burial followed in Shafter Cemetery. She is survived by daughter Pearl Gonzales grandson Elex Shafter and granddaughter Rebecca Lomas of Bakersfield.
