Kern COG to Honor 17 at March 6 Regional Awards
Kern Council of Governments will honor 17 individuals and programs for improving Kern County quality of life through cooperative efforts at the 18th Regional Awards of Merit on March 6 at the Petroleum Club Bakersfield. Dinner starts 6 p.m. with the program at 7 p.m. Reservations due by noon March 5.

Sa Ua Reservations are required to be made one day in advance. Lunch is served at 11:45 a.m. in both Shafter and Wasco sites. Suggested donations for senior adults and their spouse is 1.50. Guest under 60 are welcome with a 3.50 donation. Reservations preferred. walk ins served after others if possible. Weekly menu spans January 2 to 9 with varied meals and juice and milk. call W.C. California adds half a million voters since last presidential primary

Toys for Tots brings holiday joy to Shafter families
In Kern County over 60,000 toys were donated for Toys for Tots benefiting more than 10,000 local families. Shafter saw 800 children signed up with help from the Shafter Chamber of Commerce. Minter Field Airport District donated three toy boxes as volunteers sorted, checked in families, and packed gifts for distribution at the church gym.
