Dust storm triggers accidents on Lerdo Highway in Kern County
A southern San Joaquin Valley dust storm reduced visibility to three to four feet and caused multiple accidents on eastbound Lerdo Highway near the Friant Canal. Rescue crews freed pinned victims as lanes closed and winds reached about 45 mph with peak gusts near 58 mph. Officials noted atmospheric conditions from a west coast low and Colorado high pressure combo.
