Shafter youth teams cap perfect league run in 4-0 finish
Shafter 5th and 6th grade girls coached by Shelly Salcido completed a 4-0 league season by beating Delano 10-5 with Melissa Garner and Susan Aguilera each scoring four. In 7th grade, Ana Alvidrez led Shafter with four, but Wasco won 20-9. 8th grade saw Cathy Portillo and Sheila Boatwright score seven each in a 24-15 win. Boys went 2-1, led by Ty Rekosh with 10 points in the 5th/6th grade win over Corcoran, and Mark Fowler with six in the 5th/6th grade 21-18 win over Wasco.
