Gingerbread Drama Club Teaches Teamwork in afterschool program
Aguirre notes the drama club started in November for first through fifth graders to explore creativity. The group, led by Aguirre and Medina, will stage a puppet show next using $3,000 in grants from Richland Superintendent Bergevin and KBAK Channel 29’s One Classroom at a Time grant. Funds will buy costumes props curtains microphones puppets marionettes a puppet stage music and shirts with the club logo.

Merle Haggard Drive Dedicated in Kern County
Kern County honored Merle Haggard with a ceremony renaming a section of Seventh Standard Road in Oildale as Merle Haggard Drive and proclaiming Merle Haggard Day. The event included a commemorative plaque plan, a future green belt known as Hap's Place, and a special Harley Davidson jacket, with Bakersfield Harley Davidson hosting at Merle Haggard Drive.

The 2007-2008 Kern County Grand Jury will sponsor a Grand Jury Awareness Month program at the Liberty Bell in front of the Superior Court Building on Truxtun and Chester on Thursday Feb 21 at 10 am. A weather backup is the 7th Floor Conference Room.
