SWC Breakfast Speaker Set for March 9 Program
The Shafter Woman's Club prayer breakfast committee led by Lucy Gorsching plans the program for the annual event on March 9 at the Veterans Hall. Dr Doug Fletcher of Wasco will speak on Teaching Patriotism in the Public Schools. Priscilla Neufeld and Sharon Voth of Wasco will provide the morning music. Neufeld is Kern District president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Public invited.

Cal State Bakersfield Extended Studies offers Penguins and Politics: the Story of Antarctica Yesterday and Today. Led by Steve Pendleton, the course covers geography, climate, wildlife, and Antarctica’s role in world affairs, with a focus on recent Falklands war causes.
