Adapting to Rainy Northwest Life in a New Year
A narrator recalls moving from Southern California to Portland and South Bend. They describe constant rain, buying galoshes and warm clothes, a cold parsonage, a wooden stove, a heating blanket, and a dog seeking warmth. They note rats in the harbor area and surviving on small offerings while sharing tacos and community support. They emphasize resilience and learning to thrive despite hardship.
