Buttonwillow to stage Moon Landing themed play
Production starts this week with four scenes and a big community celebration for water arrival at the aqueduct. Director Gar McLeod and assistants craft the Scene III moon landing, Scene IV returns astronauts with moon bugs dubbed Fiber Eaters.

Kern County bank debits for 1965 rose to a record 4.349 billion dollars, up 322.5 million or 8 percent from 1964, according to the Kern County Board of Trade and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Employment in the Bakersfield Labor Market Area rose to 11,250 in December, up 1.7 percent from a year earlier, while unemployment stood at 7,300. Building activity also climbed with countywide construction totaling 51,477,131 dollars for 1965, the second highest since 1954, led by Ridgecrest and Taft among incorporated cities.
