Richland teachers rekindle morale with cowboy breakfast
Richland Junior High teachers find stress relief and higher morale through regular flapjack breakfasts with country sausage orange juice and strong cowboy coffee. In service days focus on education renewal and remembering why they became teachers. The event is organized by Don Hardcastle who handles the sausage and Janet Johnson who runs the cowboy breakfast.

More than 300 students from 21 Kern County high schools will compete at Kern County Superior Court in Bakersfield on Feb 17. Trials run 10 to 11:30 am and 1:30 to 3 pm, open to the public. The top four teams meet Feb 24 to determine county winner and state berth.
