Water users in the Shafter-Wasco Irrigation District were reminded that water orders for the 1968 year must be in by February 26. Millerton Lake holds 280,000 acre feet, 160,000 below last year’s level, and Friant-Kern Canal carryover is limited. The district opens March 1, and a concrete core, dome-topped 80-foot diameter tank will be built at the southwest area of the yard to store water and stabilize summer supply. The board also approved the lowest bid for sewer rodding equipment and reaffirmed water billing policy for businesses.
