Shafter Chamber Awards Honor Local Citizens
The Shafter Chamber of Commerce honored residents at its annual awards banquet on January 31. Recipients included Kenny Kirschenmann for Agriculture, New Hope Church for Architecture Beautification, Mike Kotrla and Larry Starrh for Art, Rick Perucchi for Baker Hughes Business Award, Garry Nelson as Citizen of the Year, and Arlie Smith for Community Service with Kiwanis Harvest Festival recognition.

Trojans Named to Junior High Honor Band in Kern County
The Richland Junior Band led by Dr. Ken Gross will send seven Trojans to perform at Rabobank Arena on February 26 as part of the Kern County Honor Band concert beginning at 7:00 p.m. Auditions were January 23 requiring scales and a program piece, with rehearsals starting February 2 and a final rehearsal on concert day. Representing the Trojans are Jeremiah Aldape Janmar Cervantes Ismael Lorzo Timothy Martinez Eunice Martinez Elizabeth Wilson and Adrian Cazares.
