Accidental Death Shafter Man Amid Fatal Crash
Graveside services are set for Wednesday morning for 26 year old Steve Morrison of Shafter who died in a single vehicle crash Saturday night near Norris Road. Three others injured include Connie Dyke, Stella Lopez and Steve Bryant. Morrison, a Shafter Press employee, was driving a 1974 Pontiac Firebird at high speed and the car overturned, throwing all occupants.

Shafter Council OKs a part time planner and four CETA jobs
In adjourned session the Shafter City Council approved hiring a part time planner for three cities Arvin and McFarland contributing funds with Kern County COG covering two thirds of salary. The plan runs six months funded by federal grants under Title 6 and 2 of CETA with four new positions and a motion opposing President Ford's oil surcharge.

Rooftop burglars strike here again at Country Bay Market
Police report burglars entered the Country Bay Market at 300 South Shafter Avenue through a cooler duct and stole about 300 dollars. Previous week they breached Central Avenue appliance, and earlier broke into Family Furniture and Made O Day, taking money and clothing.

Almberg and Neufeld Named to Richland Board
Incumbent Tom Almberg and Don Neufeld were appointed to fill two vacancies on the Richland Board of Trustees after no acceptable write-in bids were filed. The board heard a one time grant of 12 318 for recreational facilities and discussed pooling with Shafter funds to build lighted tennis courts. Financials show income at 1 131 739 and expenditures at 692 492 as of December 30. The February 17 meeting was moved to February 19 to avoid conflicts with Washington's birthday.
