Pacific Telephone seeks $471 million yearly rate rise
The California Public Utilities Commission was told Pacific Telephone plans a 60 day filing for higher prices to total about 471 million dollars annually. Residential bills would rise to 18.35 from 13.15 dollars, with lifeline rates unchanged. Business rates up to 8.70 monthly. Installment plans and new service options proposed to modernize and improve service, with a return on investment target rising from 8.85% to 10.7%.
