Rapid Shafter Sewer Project Advances to Completion
Work on Shafter's sewer system is moving quickly with an expected finish in about 60 days if weather stays fair. Superintendent John Topich of Sutalo & Balmjack and resident engineer J P Flynn of Currie Engineering oversee the site, starting two and a half miles south at the disposal plant on Poplar between Burbank and Orange. The ditching machine digs a wide trench for sewer mains along Poplar to Orange and into Shafter Avenue toward town.
